Q: What should I expect from my first visit?
A: During the initial visit, the therapist will ask questions about the history of the condition, assess the current problem, perform a physical examination (physiotherapy), outline a treatment protocol, provide the first treatment and a home management program.
Q: Do I need a referral?
A: No referral is necessary for private treatments. WCB and ICBC claims require a Doctor's referral. Treatment may be covered by your extended health plan and is variable as to coverage rates. Please check your plan to determine coverage and if a referral is needed.
Q: What do I need to bring with me?
A: Bring your BC Care Card as well as your doctor's referral (if you have one). Wear loose fitting clothing or bring shorts for lower limb and back injuries. Jeans are not recommended as they limit mobility. Bring a list of any medications that you may be on for your injury as well as any x-rays or medical examination reports.
Q: How long are the visits?
A: Physiotherapy sessions are variable depending on the client's treatment needs. Kinesiology sessions are one hour long. Massage Therapy sessions are booked in ½, ¾ and 1hr time allotments. Please plan to be at the clinic at least 15 minutes before your initial appointment time to give required medical information.
Q: Does MSP cover therapy costs?
A: You can qualify if: MSP only covers a portion of the costs for those who qualify according to the MSP guidelines please visit The Medical Services Plan website for more information. If you are found to be MSP Exempt then MSP will assist in covering 10 patient visits in total for Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Masssage.
Q: Does extended health cover my physiotherapy treatment?
A: Please consult your individual plan for coverage information.
